Founded in 2009, YOU GO GIRLS has empowered 100s of participants through our after school run and play club. Our focus is to provide a fun and safe experience for each child to develop a feeling of personal power and social connection within a non-competitive running club.

 

THIS SPRING: Along with our fun runs, we'll play a variety of games,  explore an orchard and the Penn Campus, plant seeds in pots, have a color war, and go to watch the ever-popular Penn Relays!

WHY YGG?

Remember growing up and just going out to play? These creative opportunities gave us freedom, strengthened our decision-making, built our peer skills, and provided us with challenges that we chose. And, they're often missing in the lives of adolescents. You Go Girls seeks to create that same feeling of freedom and power for our kids with low-structured, challenge-by-choice, physical activities that build a strong holistic sense of self at an important bridge in life.

THE DETAILS:

Groups are divided into 2nd-3rd grade, YGG Junior, and 4th-6th grade, YGG Varsity. Groups meet from 3:30-5pm at Markward Playground at 300 S. 25th Street. Runs are typically on the Markward Oval and Riverwalk for our 2nd and 3rd graders (.5-2 miles), and as far as the Penn Campus & Biopond for our 4th-6th graders (1-3 miles). Our time together also includes fun tag games, rolling down hills, and other playful activities.

Participants receive fun toe tokens for attendance, and coveted milestone awards along the way for accumulated miles. Pictured is Kate, who earned her 100+ mile jacket over several seasons of YGG.

LOCATION: Markward Playground at 300 S. 25th St. Philadelphia, PA 19146 at the corner of Delancey and S. 25th St.

SPRING SEASON 2023

​

YGG Jr.:

Wednesdays 3:30 to 5pm including 3:20 pick-up at The Philadelphia School for TPS kids by a YGG Coach to walk to park.

​

YGG Varsity:

Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5pm. Varsity runners typically walk to the park from the local schools or are accompanied by a parent, but they are also welcome to meet the Junior group on the 25th St. side of The Philadelphia School and walk over with a YGG Coach.

 

13 SPRING Dates:

MARCH: 8, 15, 22

APRIL: 5, 12, 19, 26, & FRIDAY APRIL 28 @ Penn Relays

MAY: 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 (run and picnic in park)

Make-up Day: June 7
